The gallery selects from a large portfolio of each of the student's works and hosts the best of the lot. The exhibition that has begun from 6th July will continue till the 27th of Aug 2011. It is phased for the art lovers' convenience -

1st Aug – 12th Aug’11: Phase III – Semi-abstract Paintings

Vidyarthi Vishesh is an exhibition that highlights diverse styles, techniques and mediums and is truly affordable. The artists traverse through a gamut of personal experiences, general observations and the diabolic imprint of the social scenario. The bouquets and the brickbats carve the psyche of the individual artist as he/she banks on the creative expression of his brush to delve deeper into his impressionist as well as expressionist self and at times, into surrealist forays.

The Concept: Based on an interactive principle, the student exhibition extends over a period of 8 weeks and has been phased out to convenience the art enthusiast. It features creative and thought-provoking realistic and semi-realistic paintings apart from a host of Graphic Prints, Drawings, Still Life, Seascapes, Cityscapes, Landscapes, Compositions, as well as Experimental work.

The body of work is expansive and selected from the Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, Diploma and Degree classes. This gives the students a chance to observe in a mixed sphere, relate to techniques and applications and learn from each other; it also initiates them into the art of presentation and pricing.

The prices range from a minimum of Rs.1500 to a maximum of Rs. 12000/- thus making original art from the ‘artists of tomorrow’ accessible and affordable.

Copper Enamelling Workshop at Pradarshak

Kana Lomror an artist trained at Shantiniketan and presently based in Mumbai conducted a 2-day workshop on copper enamelling at Gallery Pradarshak, Mumbai. The 6th and 7th of Feb’09 saw him explain and demonstrate the finer nuances of the art of copper enamelling with his students. Painstakingly – as copper enamelling is more an exercise in patience – each piece was cleaned-coloured-fired-filed and the process repeated until the desired results were accomplished.

The students created two small paintings on day 1 while day 2 saw each of them experiment with a pair of trendy and charming earnings.

The experience was fun and the students went away happy with 3-4 techniques lapped up for future experimentation.

Shall keep you all informed when host the next workshop. In the mean time, do let us know if you would like to be a part of any workshops. Write in to pradarshak@gmail.com or just call me on 98204 60587

Cheers!
